Overview:

This is a temporary part time role, approx 25 hours per week / until Dec 2017

The Associate will provide programmatic, analytical, and administrative support to the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves’ Standards, Technology, and Fuels team. This role includes maintenance and development of knowledge and decision-support tools, as well as communication and coordination with external partners and experts. The role will be in support of the Alliance’s overall mission to save lives, improve livelihoods, empower women, and protect the environment by creating a thriving global market for clean and efficient household cooking solutions.

The position requires coordination among a broad range of energy sector stakeholders. The successful candidate must be highly organized, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be articulate in written and oral communication. An understanding of or experience in developing country markets is preferred. 

 

Working Relationships:

The Associate will report to the Senior Associate for Testing and Technology, and will work closely with other members of the Standards, Technology, and Fuels team.

 

Responsibilities:

Knowledge Management and Tool Development (75%)

  • Maintain the Clean Cooking Catalog, an online database of technologies and fuels, specifications, and performance, including data entry and curation for the Catalog
  • Oversee updates of the Catalog based on user feedback, including translating user feedback into requirements/specifications, and coordinating with the developer
  • Coordinate with Alliance Focus Country Market Managers to ensure that stove and fuel technologies in the Catalog are representative of the Alliance’s focus country markets
  • Identify stove and fuel testing data in the literature and add to the Catalog to ensure that the latest performance data is available to in a single resource for the clean cooking sector
  • Incorporate up-to-date performance data into an existing, excel-based impact analysis tool
  • Develop the existing excel-based impact analysis tool into a user-friendly tool to support decision-making and project planning; seek feedback from the Alliance team and external stakeholders to develop the tool
  • Organize and catalog relevant research literature using reference management software

 

Overall Support of the Standards, Technology and Fuels Team (25%)

  • Support the Standards, Technology, and Fuels team to organize conferences, workshops, and events, including planning, logistics, and coordination with external partners and experts
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Selection Criteria:
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in related field (such as engineering, data science, international development, etc.) required; 1-2 years of work experience preferred
  • Strong capabilities in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; advanced knowledge of MS Excel required
  • Experience developing decision-support or analytical tools preferred
  • Experience using reference management software preferred
  • Proven analytical and project management skills, including the ability to move projects forward from inception to implementation to completion with adherence to deadlines
  • Strong communications skills (speaking, writing, editing, and listening); with attention to detail and broad strategy and experience communicating to different audiences
  • Ability to follow instructions thoroughly while also providing a strategic and critical eye to identify and address additional gaps
  • Ability and experience in developing, maintaining, and enjoying effective working relationships with people, internally and externally, from a wide variety of types of organizations, cultural backgrounds, and with a wide variety of functional expertise
  • Willingness to travel, including internationally
  • Flexibility, openness to new challenges, and the ability to thrive as part of a highly functioning, fast-paced group of professionals and to prioritize competing demands
  • Self-starter with the desire for continuous learning and the ability to synthesize information and respond positively to constructive feedback
