China National Cookstove and Fuels Conference
The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China and the Ministry of Agriculture are co-hosting the China National Cookstove and Fuels Conference on May 19-20, 2014 in Beijing, China. The Vice-Chair of NDRC, Minister Xie Zhenhua has recently joined Alliance’s Leadership Council. The Alliance will host an appointment ceremony for him during the conference.
The Alliance has partnered with the Ministry of Agriculture to conduct an in-depth China cookstove and fuels market assessment. The study identified six provinces based on their representations of regional variations in climate, geography, fuel availability and stove types that are currently used: Liaoning, Gansu, Henan, Hubei, Chongqing and Shaanxi. Initial results from the assessment will be shared at this conference. The findings and recommendations will be carried over to the 13th Five-Year Plan in shaping China’s next national clean stove program and other government stove policies.
The rest components of the conference include:

• discussions on South-South collaboration through clean stoves supply chain;
• announcement of Alliance China Ambassador
• discussions on national and ISO standards
• Finance and investment for manufacturers
• Clean stove exhibition
