Second Africa LPG Summit 2015
June 22-26, 2015 has been designated Africa LPG Week. The theme of this event is “Keys to Unlocking LPG Consumption in Africa” and will provide a platform for exploring strategies and roadmaps for expanding the use of LPG in Africa, increasing the demand and share for all. Activities at this event will extend the entire week including an exhibition, a roadshow promoting safe use of LPG and an LPG training course.
Together with the Global LPG Partnership, the World LPG Association, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, the Centre for Disease Control, the Public Health Institute, and the Kenya Medical Research Institute, Africa LPG Week will also be hosting a high-level workshop on LPG Clean Cooking and Health on June 22, 2015 at the Intercontinental Nairobi Hotel.
The workshop, titled "The Role of LPG in Achieving Clean Cooking and Its Benefits to Health, Promotion Scaling and Marketing of LPG", will be attended by leaders and experts from key African and international stakeholders from the public sector, private sector, public health community and civil society.
Outcomes expected include:
- Enhancing the understanding of the health benefits in the scaling of LPG businesses
- Examining LPG public sector, business and marketing opportunities to maximize outreach
- Identifying opportunities and projects for partnerships between the LPG and Health sectors
- Advancing the public health benefit of clean and safe cooking
