There is no one-size-fits-all strategy to recruiting, training and incentivizing sales staff and promoters. Organizations may choose to sell directly through an internal sales force, and/or leverage partners or preexisting networks.  Successful cookstove sales and distribution strategies start with a highly trained and dedicated sales force. Many organizations have developed innovative models to expand their sales force without sacrificing their ability to deliver accurate, consistent and effective sales messages about their product. 

Join the Winrock and U.S. EPA “Best Practices in Recruiting, Training and Incentivizing Sales Staff and Promoters” webinar on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 10:30am Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) to hear  strategies and lessons learned from organizations selling stoves and other household energy products in Central America, India, and East Africa.  The purpose of this webinar is to:

•    Discuss various strategies for recruiting, training and incentivizing sales staff and promoters, and the challenges and opportunities associated with each.
•    Provide examples of specific cases where these strategies are being employed to deliver accurate, consistent and effective messaging about cookstoves and other HHE products.
•    Share lessons learned from these examples that can be applied to other contexts.

About the speakers:
Mr. Sebastian Africano
Sebastian has worked with Trees, Water & People (TWP) since 2005. He started as a Marketing Intern for a clean cookstove program in Honduras and today is International Director, managing TWP's clean cookstove, solar energy and reforestation programs in Central America and Haiti. In 2013 he led the founding of TWP subsidiary Luciérnaga LLC (, a social enterprise delivering solar lighting products to Central America. 

Ms. Nele Groosman
Nele has a background in international relations, cross-cultural studies and anthropology. Her experience includes working as a research assistant at the Geneva Center for Security Policy and several internships at non-profit organizations and social enterprises in Boston and Nairobi. At The Paradigm Project, Nele is responsible for leading focus group activities, field-based trials, and training of sales agents in Kenya.

Mr. Ankit Mathur
Ankit is co-founder of Greenway Grameen Infa, a for-profit design and distribution company that manufactures and sells the Greenway Smart Stove, a modern replacement for traditional mud stoves in India.  Ankit is a technology enthusiast and loves to get involved in understanding technologies and making new products. He believes that rural populations deserve world class products and excellent services.  Over the last two years, Greenway has sold over 150,000 Greenway Smart Stoves.
