Arijit Basu is the Regional Director for Market Development for Clean Cookstoves in Sub-Saharan Africa & South Asia. Before joining the Alliance, Arijit served as Uganda Country Director for Living Goods, a non-profit organization whose mission is saving lives, creating livelihoods, encouraging pro-poor innovation & ensuring sustainability in operations. Arijit helped Living Goods Uganda significantly grow its reach and impact. He launched LG Open Mode, built out three new branches and recruited hundreds of agents. Arijit’s success in Uganda gave confidence to Living Goods to expand its operation into Kenya. Arijit also worked in global multi-national organizations building global consumer brands throughout South Asia. He launched Heinz ketchup in India, drove aggressive growth for Nestle’s "Well Baby Clinics," managed supply chain logistics for Glaxo Smith Kline, oversaw nationwide trade marketing for Henkel India, headed national sales for Eveready and launched Duracell Batteries, Gillette Shaving systems in Eastern India, Bangladesh and Nepal. Arijit is an alumnus of Lamartiniere School, and St. Xaviers College, Calcutta University. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Sales & Marketing from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan’s Rajendra Prasad Institute of Communication & Management, Mumbai.
